FOR AN APPOINTED TIME
“‘Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.’”
— Habakkuk 2:2-3 NKJV
In the book of Genesis, Abraham and Sarah had been promised a child, and yet for decades were unable to conceive. Even when Sarah convinced Abraham to have a child through Hagar, God still had an appointed time for a child to come through Sarah’s own womb. Know this:
Just because someone is capable or available to be a candidate for the fulfillment of a promise, doesn’t mean they are God’s chosen conduit to birth it.
God still blessed Hagar’s son, Ishmael, but He later said to Abraham, “I will confirm my covenant with Isaac.” (Genesis 17:21)
There is a covenant that God has made with you.
For some of you, God is birthing new movements, He’s reviving shelved promises, He is establishing a new wineskin and He’s even called some of you to birth nations. That’s weighty. You are not ordinary. You have been chosen for such a time as this.
A church leader sent me a message just a few days ago about an urgency she felt around a call to intercession to birth what’s on the Father’s heart in this time. This was a clear confirmation. Many of us have been raised up as “spiritual midwives”, and as this leader said to me, we’ve stepped into a transition season of birthing.
We’re in another crossover.
Don’t disqualify yourself from what God wants to do through you. Sarah was always meant to birth the child God had promised, but she prematurely disqualified herself, choosing to see the promise fulfilled through someone else. These next few months will be pivotal for the move of God’s glory that is stirring. We’ve stepped into a “set time” and for what God is doing, you are the right person for the task.
It’s time.
“Is anything too impossible for the Lord? At the appointed time I will come back to you, and in about a year she will have a son.”
— Genesis 18:14 CSB
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
— Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV
“For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
— Esther 4:14 NKJV
